The reason for this lower energy production is that the electrons in the photovoltaic panels get activated by the photons in the sunlight. That time electrons got excited and energy is produced. This energy is stored by the cells. When the temperature is high the time between the resting state of electrons and their excited state is really small and thus the power generation will be lower.
The difference in power reduction is mainly hit the house owners who installed solar panels without any cooling mechanism.
“If you take a glass solar shingle and lay it on the roof, there’s no air going behind it, so it might get a lot hotter — it might get to 140 or 160 degrees Fahrenheit,” said Stuart Fox, CivicSolar’s vice president of technical sales.
In one study conducted in the UK, it found that when the heat crosses 107 degrees then it’s output will be reduced up to 1.1 percent for every 1.8-degree increase in temperature. Most of the large scale solar power production plants in California uses cooling systems to increase the efficiency. But this also uses the power which in turn cuts the overall output ratio.
so the hot sunny weather will not provide the power as much as possible. One solution to fill the gap of power reduction is to start small natural gas plants named peakers. But they will contribute some amount to carbon emissions. We need to constantly research in order to solve this problem. And we can hope for a better solution in the coming future.
