KSEB Announces Electric Vehicle Charging Stations In Kerala
Kerala is moving with an aim to promote green energy in the state. The Kerala State Electricity Board is going to install the first electric vehicle charging station in their headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. After the first installation, the electric vehicle charging stations will start at Kochi and Kozhikode in the second phase. Later this project will cover all the major cities in Kerala.
The proposed charging stations in Kerala can accommodate around 50 – 100 cars at a time. This initiative is based on the request from central ministry in order to promote electric and hybrid vehicles. They will reduce the pollution caused by the fossil fuels.
The power minister of Kerala Mr. M M Mani had directed the officials to earn revenue from other resources rather than using the traditional methods. Thus Kerala will become a state which depends on both renewable and non-renewable resources for power. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is struggling to meet the demand of electricity in the peak hours. In Kerala, the peak hours are 6 PM to 10 PM. By using other renewable sources for e-charging stations, KSEB can increase the revenue as well as can give efficient power to the customers.
The officials said that there need to be huge investments to start storage backed solar projects. This project can provide surplus electricity in the night time, especially in the peak hours. In India, Maharashtra and Delhi already have several electric charging stations to reduce the pollution and to reduce the use of non-renewable energy sources like fossil fuels.
Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations
An electric vehicle charging stations is also known as EV charging stations, electric recharging point, charging point, charge point and EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment). Electrical vehicle charging station is an element in an infrastructure. It supplies electric energy for the recharging of electric vehicles, such as plug-in electric vehicles, including electric cars.
As electric vehicles and battery electric vehicle dominion is expanding, there is an increased need for publicly accessible charging stations. These charging stations support faster charging at higher voltages and currents than from residential EVSE’s. Many electric utility companies provide charging stations on street. These charging stations provide one or a range of heavy duty or special connectors that conform to the variety of electric charging connector standards.
